      Renesas Electronics Corporation is one of the largest manufacturers of microcontroller and application processors. It started as Renesas Technology in 2003 from a joint venture of Hitachi, Ltd. with Mitsubishi Electric then became Renesas Electronics Corporation in 2010 after it merged with NEC Electronics. The adverse effects of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011 motivated Renesas to restructure its business and seek new capital, and today it is known not only for its microcontroller and application processors, but also LCD drivers; RF ICs; mixed-signal;and system-on-a-chip semiconductor
